Hanoi Old Quarter Hotel

The rooftop breakfast was lovely, and the hotel is in a very walkable part of the old town. We stayed four nights and had absolutely no complaints. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and our room was spotless, spacious and felt brand new, without the grime in the corners you sometimes get in older hotels. I loved the Japanese-style heated toilet seat with its different bidet options.

The street outside the hotel restricts vehicles carrying more than 16 passengers, so tour groups need to meet just around the corner. It’s a short walk, and the restriction keeps the entrance area less chaotic than at other places. The location is otherwise great, within easy walking distance of everything. The service was consistently outstanding before booking, during our stay and afterward. The front desk staff were kind and approachable. They took our bags from the car, held doors, did laundry at fair prices and helped store bags days after we left. The building and rooms are well kept and updated, with amenities including a dental kit, shower cap, slippers, bathrobe, cotton buds and combs. There were also gas masks in every room and anti-slip bathroom mats for safety.

The location was incredible, with many Ha Noi highlights quite close by, and I’d definitely stay here again. On my first visit to Vietnam, the reception team gave my senior parents a lot of help: they called a car, handled the luggage and walked them to the pickup point on the corner. The staff remembered guests well, which struck me as a sign of real professionalism and a strong work ethic. Our room was clean and well kept. Breakfast and tea time were both pleasant and relaxing.

We stayed for seven nights with family. The room was on the small side but very clean and comfortable, so be prepared if you’re bringing lots of luggage. Old Quarter gets busy at night, but the room was quiet and relaxing, and the location was excellent for getting to nearby spots. We were worried at first that it might be a scam because our emails got no reply. The reception desk is open around the clock, though, and check-in at 2am and checkout at 4am both went smoothly. The bathroom was lovely, with a heated toilet and bathtub. I only wish there had been a hair dryer. Breakfast didn’t have many options, but the beef or chicken pho is a must try.
