Holiday Emerald Hotel

They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Even though it was very late, the staff greeted us warmly at check-in and had arranged transportation to pick us up at midnight. Everyone kept that same welcoming attitude throughout our stay. The sweetest surprise was for my husband’s birthday. Once they heard about it, they put together a little cake and brought it to our room. It was such a thoughtful, unforgettable gesture. Breakfast was delicious too, and the whole stay felt comfortable and full of genuine hospitality. Much love to the wonderful staff. Love from Sri Lanka ❤️

I came back twice, first for the night I landed in Hanoi and later for a week. The price and location are the main draws, and the staff are caring and really try to keep guests happy. Breakfast is basic, and the Wi-Fi is strong enough for work video calls. It’s a good option if noise doesn’t bother you. I’m sensitive to noise and can’t recommend it for light sleepers. I was so jet-lagged the first night that I didn’t notice much, but during the week-long stay I basically didn’t sleep. The walls are paper-thin, so I could hear the street, halls, rooms above, below, and on both sides. There were constant bangs and crashes that sounded like a herd of elephants, and I couldn’t even make sense of some of them. If you can sleep through that, go for it.

The location was perfect for reaching great food spots, and it was a short walk to the old town without being caught up in its chaos. The rooms were clean and had what you’d expect from an average hotel. Staff were very attentive, and they let us leave our luggage there while we went on other trips. We really enjoyed our stay. We sometimes heard the neighbors, but it was still better than the four other hotels we’d tried in central Hanoi.

The reception staff were kind and professional, and they apologized after I raised a problem. But one cleaning staff member was rude when I asked for water. The hotel gives two small bottles per room, and since my room hadn’t been serviced during my two-night stay, I felt I was reasonably due another bottle. Noise was the main issue in room 602. It was loud at every hour, and the sounds came from inside the hotel, not the street: conversations from nearby rooms, hallway activity, the elevator, doors closing, and constant banging. The door didn’t sit flush, leaving a visible gap at the bottom and side that let even more noise in. One morning I found a can of cockroach spray on the stairs outside my room, which worried me given the gap. I put a towel along the bottom of the door. Earplugs are essential. The room was dated. It was generally clean, but the badly tarnished fixtures made it feel less clean. Hot water was limited, so showers had to be very quick. Breakfast was adequate at best. After 8:00am, many hot items were gone and weren’t replenished, and the bread was stale. The property needs better soundproofing and general upgrades. I wouldn’t stay here again.
