Huong Thuy Guesthouse

We felt at home here, thanks to the lovely family who run the place. The man and woman always greeted us with warm smiles, and spoiled our girls with treats. The daughter helped translate whenever she was around. They also let us leave our luggage upstairs for a small fee while we took our Ha Long Bay tour. The storage room was secure and well looked after, which put us at ease. Getting around was easy. There's a mall close by where we picked up everything we needed, and the bus stop is only a short walk away. We took the bus into the Old Quarter and wherever else we wanted to go without any trouble. The rope running up the stairs was a lifesaver. The man even used it to help pull our bags up. A few cheeky beers made the job more fun, though I definitely had more than a few! There were a couple of small things that bothered me. The outside door to our room didn't seal well, so we could hear some traffic. My family wasn't bothered, but I'm a light sleeper and needed earplugs. The mattress was hard, too, though I haven't found a soft mattress anywhere in Vietnam yet. We loved staying with this wonderful family and would definitely come back.
