Le Foyer Hotel

The included breakfast was great, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of the old town. After arriving around 11 pm following long flights, staff carried my bag to my room. It was large, with a king size bed and a great-looking walk-in shower, but my stay in that room didn’t last long. A giant cockroach greeted me, and after a short chase the staff smashed it. Then the electric door lock failed, and the room wouldn’t lock with the key. I had to move to a smaller room with a tall bathtub and hand shower. Its view was of a back alley, unlike the city view in the first room.

The staff were accommodating when we needed late check-out, and there was a sitting room where we could spend time. Our room was clean and functional.

The airport taxi from the hotel was good value, and the hotel itself was cheap. Its Old Quarter location is great, with lots of excellent restaurants nearby. Our room at the back had a window that was basically blacked out, though, and the WiFi was unusable. The bed was comfortable and the room size was OK. Breakfast was the biggest letdown: everything I tried was cold, bland, or tasted odd. I usually love Vietnamese breakfast salads, but this was a few bits of lettuce with whole tomatoes on top. I didn’t go back during our four-day stay.

The location is really convenient for getting around. The rooms are on the small side, but comfortable.
