We had booked this place for a holiday in Vietnam, hoping for a relaxing stay. Instead, a message from the owner two days before arrival left us scrambling for somewhere new and seriously disrupted our trip. We were stressed and disappointed by the whole experience. The listing said the house could accommodate up to 8 people. When the owner asked how many guests we had, we said four. He then suddenly told us the house was in poor condition and unavailable. There was no apology. He bluntly offered two of his other properties, but both were worse than what we’d booked: one had a less desirable location, while the other was closer but noticeably smaller, with fewer bedrooms. When we asked for a discount to account for the downgrade, he insisted we cancel through Trip.com and pay him directly in cash. He quoted a USD price using a very unfavorable exchange rate. We refused and asked for a full refund. After we shared the messages with Trip.com, we got a 100% refund without cancellation fees. From our perspective, it seemed less like the property was unusable and more like the owner wanted to move us into a smaller place and re-rent the larger one. Be very cautious about booking here. Based on what happened to us, the owner seemed unreliable and did not act in good faith.
