I booked a room on Booking.com for 247k VND, but when I arrived the owner said it wasn’t available and asked me to switch to another room for 300k. It was late afternoon, so I couldn’t get to a different hotel and accepted. The room smelled awful. I had to pour shower gel on the floor and clean it several times. There was no fridge or TV, the air conditioner didn’t work, and there were no towels, toothbrush, or shampoo. The aunt who owns the place seemed nice, which is why I’m adding one star.

I booked through booking.com, then got a message saying they couldn’t provide the room at that price. When I called and pointed out that they had set the price, they still told me not to come and to find somewhere else. It seems the process is: book first, then they decide whether they like the price, and turn you away if they don’t. If that arrangement works for you, this could be your place. It’s also quite far from the city center. There are buses, and you can get a Grab, but reaching the Old Town takes a while if that’s where you’re headed.

Unreliable. On the day I was due to arrive, they told me there were no rooms and that I should find somewhere else. It seems others have had bad experiences too, so I’d avoid booking this accommodation.

The room was especially clean, and the housekeeper was very good. The location is excellent, not in the Old Quarter but not far from it either. The price is cheap.

The aunt was very friendly, and the house was clean. It was also very cheap. I’d stay again if I get the chance.
