Amor Hotel

The staff member checked us in without any problem even though my girlfriend’s and my flight was delayed by three hours and we arrived after midnight. We were on the first floor, so the lack of an elevator didn’t matter. The main shower head wouldn’t hold pressure, but the second one still worked, so that wasn’t a big issue. Sleep was the problem. The room has a strange interior window that opens onto a shaft in the middle of the building. There are frosted glass windows but no curtains, so lights from rooms above or below shine into yours through the shaft. My girlfriend sleeps poorly, so I asked the staff member where the sudden light was coming from. He told me it was the moon and couldn’t be switched off. It definitely wasn’t the moon, as the photos show. A venue next door had people cheering as if watching football at 2am, and people moving around in the room above sounded like they were deliberately stomping. I sleep heavily, but the noise kept my girlfriend awake all night. I’m disappointed. The reviews I’d read had made me think my partner would get a good night’s sleep, but the shaft let in outside light and noise, and the explanation about the moon wasn’t helpful. Customer service was good apart from that exchange. Curtains and soundproofing would help.
