The stairs were narrow, with four flights on each floor and ceilings so low they seemed made for hobbits. I won't take elevators for granted again. The roof wasn't closed off, so mosquitoes had a banquet, and the street noise came right through, horns and all. The shower was over the toilet, and the doors to the outside ledge, the so-called "balcony," wouldn't lock. I paid $16US for a room that didn't match the advertising photos. This was the worst place I've stayed, and way overpriced. It's worth about $3 a night.

The rooms are tiny, and getting to them means climbing a seemingly endless staircase with dangerously low ceilings. The heaters and shower heads are almost useless. It's centrally located, though, and you can book lots of outings right from the lobby, or what passes for one.

Staff will enter your room whenever they want, especially when you're out, even after you've clearly asked them not to come in. I stayed one night and it was a nightmare. This dirty, rude dive is a disgrace to 99% of Vietnamese citizens. They've now been reported to the relevant tourist authorities, who have taken note. British, American, and European travellers and tourists, don't stay at Anh Dao guesthouse under any circumstances. Stay on the streets instead. You've been warned! 😲 😱 😢😢

The staff were nice and informative enough. The place itself is so-so, with no elevator, a small room, and a bathroom that's tiny even for one person.

The room is cheap and handy for backpackers traveling light. You're close to every place in the city.
