The location is great, just steps from many restaurants and drink shops. Although Cola's Homestay is down an alley, it’s wide enough for cars to pick guests up and drop them off. The place is clean and feels safe. All guests and visitors have to show ID for safety, and you change into the in house flip flops and leave your shoes on the shelves by the entrance. After checking in, a contactless card opens both the building and room, so there’s no code to remember or physical key to carry around. Staff are friendly and quick to answer questions. Downstairs there’s free hot and cold filtered water, a kitchen, and laundry. For electricity and fire safety, remember to switch off the lights and unplug devices from outlets. The elevator is one floor up, so this setup is more suited to carry-on bags than large check-in suitcases. I’d recommend this homestay for short or long stays. Booking directly with the homestay gets the best price, especially for a week or a month.

The room was small, but for the price it felt fair, and the bed folds up. There’s free laundry, the air-conditioning worked really well, and they cleaned our room every other day. No hot water, though HCMC is hot anyway. The stairs are narrow but we managed fine. Swipe access at the front and doors that lock automatically made the place feel secure. Good location, too.

Saigon goes better with Cola! This automated hotel was a fun surprise, with a clever, space-shuttle-like design that makes everything fit into just a few square meters. The standards are high for such a low price. At one point I thought I was about to launch into space, but I’d only switched off the AC. Inspiring!

After a few days of traveling, I needed to do laundry, and Dan’s Wash & Stay was nearby. It was open around the clock, self-service, and only 30K per load, which saved me a lot of time and money compared with hotel laundry. I’d booked a 2-star hotel near Bui Vien and Pham Ngu Lao, a really lively area.

Our friends had a rougher stay because their room faced the alley and they barely slept. I’d pay a little extra for a quiet room. We stayed three nights and slept great: our room was quiet and very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. The location was great, and I liked having a shared kitchen and laundry.
