Diamond Suite Hai Ba Trung

At the end of our eight-night stay, the two of us were moved into a more comfortable family room with two bedrooms at the same very affordable rate. What a kind gesture. The rooms are big and comfortable, and all the staff were courteous and very helpful. The location made it easy to get around, whether to the city center, the war remnants museum and palace, restaurants or a food and merchandise market. It’s not as noisy as the city center. Breakfast was served in a small, compact space and was good. We had a memorable, pleasant stay at Diamond Suite. It really suited our needs.

This is our second visit to the building in two years, and we plan to return in a month and a half. It’s good value, clean and nice, right across from Ben Thanh Market. The location and service are great. Breakfast, if included, is served at the nice upstairs restaurant next door, which advertises it for $8. The staff are great, though they speak little English.

The decoration is fine and the flats are large, but noise was the main problem. We were on the first level, and the metal curtain inside the room was awful every time it was used. The bathroom has no air extraction, so it smelled bad all the time. We spoke with another couple at breakfast who also complained about noise, though it seems the flats may differ. For a place presented as luxury apartments, Diamond Suite central looks cheap from outside, with just a simple desk in front of the garage. The lobby is small, with a few sofas and customers’ luggage left around, and the lift is large but not very clean.

The room was large, but it smelled musty, and there were insects in the beds. We’re still waiting for staff to change the beds, though we’re only here for one night. There’s nowhere to hang towels, and we will NOT BE BACK. Getting in was a challenge with big luggage because so many motorbikes were at the entrance. The side door had a prayer altar, and I thought it was the main entrance because the other one was blocked by the bikes. We had to walk up a few steps. Staff watched us as we struggled up to the tiny reception without offering help. The elevator is tiny too.
