Giang Son Hotel

We were very satisfied with the place and service. The guesthouse sits in District 1's backpacker area, central but tucked away from the main street in a relatively quiet spot. Staff were helpful, breakfast was good, and the WiFi worked well. Our triple room was on the top, 5th floor, with a balcony, but be ready for a lot of stairs since there's no elevator. We didn't mind, though it may not suit seniors. Also, some rooms have no windows, so check what you're booking.

The room matched the listing exactly, and it was clean and cosy with working AC. Service was alright, and breakfast was just the bare minimum. Still, I'd recommend it for a couple of nights without hesitation. The street can get noisy, especially on weekends when young people are out partying. When we left, I tipped the woman working there, and she gave us useful directions and advice.

After a long day of travel, we arrived in the evening to find our room had been sold to someone else and our booking cancelled, despite emailing them our arrival time. Staff were rude and unfriendly. They offered us a room at the hotel next door, which seemed to be a friend of theirs, at the same rate, but it was nowhere near the standard we'd paid for. We were left looking for somewhere clean to stay and were very disappointed with how we were treated. Avoid this place if you want somewhere friendly and reliable. There are much nicer hotels in the area for the same price, with friendly staff.

The location is good, and you can reach Grab through another alleyway. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the receptionist is nice, and breakfast comes with the room. The water heater does take a while to warm up, but overall I had a good stay.
