Hotel Grand Saigon

The rooftop bar was good, though empty, and cocktails were about 10€. Riverside and Sofitel have a clearly better view from their bars. The Grand has a lot of history and charm, with friendly, capable staff and a very central District 1 location. Our room was cozy with enough space; the bathroom was just okay. The AC was easy to adjust smoothly, so there was no risk of catching a cold. Breakfast didn’t quite match the level or variety at Sofitel plaza Saigon, but I’d still rate the Grand higher overall. Its prices were also a little better in December 2025.

There were mosquitoes throughout the hotel, and a strong unpleasant smell in the rooms and elsewhere made the stay uncomfortable. The rooms felt old-fashioned and poorly maintained, with damaged furniture and a broken pipe under the sink. Customer service was very poor. Staff were repeatedly rude and unhelpful, including the manager, who was dismissive. When we asked for help fixing the problems, they did nothing. I contacted Booking.com; they tried to assist, but the hotel ignored their emails and didn’t respond or provide the requested information. My stay at Hotel Grand Saigon was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it and would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

The location was fantastic, safe, and easy to get around from, and the staff made us feel special and celebrated over New Years. The luggage and door staff were especially kind. We stayed in the ancient wing, where the rooms were clean and well kept. Breakfast service could be better organized and improved, but otherwise we had no complaints. We really enjoyed our stay.

The staff were great and friendly, easily worth 5+ stars, and the location made it easy to walk to lots of fun places. The rooms are dated but decent. Breakfast selections deserve 1 star for a hotel claiming a 5-star rating. Most of the food was the same during my 4-night stay. Breakfast ends at 9am, but when we came down around 8:15am one morning, most of the food was already gone and wasn’t being replenished. This hotel should be rated 4 stars and charge customers accordingly.
