The room we ended up in at Lien An Hotel was decent, though dated and not especially clean by budget hotel standards. The bigger problem was how the booking was handled. I’d contacted the hotel directly, and the owner said she’d hold rooms for me, but when we arrived they said there’d been a booking error and moved us to the neighboring hotel. They said we could return to Hai Nam the following day, then told me it wasn’t available after all. The quick move made it seem like this might have happened before. Communication was poor (see attached photo), and we didn’t get what we’d expected. Guests who spend time researching accommodation could be disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it because of the way they handled the booking and room availability.

The place feels like an older hotel, but it’s clean, comfortable, and very well looked after. Ben thant market is nearby, with a convenience store right next door and plenty of restaurants around. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, too. We had a wonderful first visit to Vietnam and would stay here again when we return. Thanks for the hospitality :)

It’s a great location, under a 15-minute walk from most local sights, including Cafe Apartments, Ben Nghe Street Food, Ben Tahn Market, The Post Office, and War Museum. The staff are really nice. The rooms are clean, though they could be cleaner.

The hot water worked, but a lot of the room felt worn out. The door didn’t seem secure, the toilet floor was rusty, and the old mattress wasn’t comfortable. The wiring also seemed dangerous if you have small children. The price felt quite high, probably because of the strategic area.

Ben tanh market is only about 100 m away, and the hotel is well maintained with major attractions close by. Staff helped us extend our stay. We did have one problem at night when we couldn’t get water because the staff member didn’t provide it, as he was sleepy. Even so, it was a good experience overall.
