Lucky Star Hotel 266 De Tham

I saw a lot of negative reviews, but our stay was incredible. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we had water, a working TV, and a working mini fridge. The bathroom was spacious, and the shampoo and soap were really good. Our two-bed room cost about $43, or 1,160,000d. The receptionist at the front was friendly and even gave us a lighter to light a candle on a birthday cake in our room.

We had booked and paid for a room with two single beds at Lucky Star 226, but at check-in we were told it was fully overbooked. We had to take a taxi to Lucky Star 146, where they said only one room was left, with a queen bed for the two of us. The next day they asked us to pay extra to upgrade to two single beds. At checkout they charged us for everything in the room, from instant noodles to snacks, though there was no complimentary notice or snack menu. The location was noisy, and the hygiene was awful, including the towels and a broken glass shower door. A terrible experience.

The location is great, but that was the only good part for us. The morning reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We were traveling with two kids and nobody offered to help with our luggage. They seemed more focused on charging extra for early check-in or late check-out than on service. Our room was very small, with barely any room to move, and the bathroom door was dirty. Poor stay, and I'd pick another hotel for more comfort.

The location was great, and for a three-star hotel the room was adequate, with nice beds and a bathroom that was clean enough. The staff, though, were pushy and not especially polite or kind. We had to pay before seeing the room, which was allowed, but it felt unprofessional. Near the end of our stay they reminded us three times about checkout and rang our room well before we needed to leave. They also tried to charge us for a towel that just needed washing. They insisted it was stained without trying to wash it, and only left us alone after I threatened to write this review.
