The projectors and kettle didn’t work. There was a PlayStation in the lobby for the kids, at least. A broom had been left on top of a dead cockroach in the hallway, so we didn’t have to see it. The reception downstairs was a hangout for people smoking indoors, and the smell got everywhere. The place seemed to be run by teenagers or very young adults, more interested in blasting TikToks than checking us in. Our sheets smelled unclean, and the room wasn’t clean either. There was a huge hole in the bathroom wall, so you could hear other people using the toilet, and probably them hearing us too. One staff member tried to come into our room without knocking, saying he wanted to change the incense, though there was no incense in the room. He told the manager he had knocked, which wasn’t true. My husband had just come out of the shower stark bollock naked, so it was pretty awkward. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. I’d recommend it if you wanted to bring a lady of the night.

I had such a good time I’d live here forever if my visa let me. It’s great value: a private room with an en-suite and extras costs the same as a 6/8/10 bed dorm in a lot of other commercial hostels.

The hostel cancelled my booking by email and then stopped replying. They kept my deposit and didn’t respond to emails from Hostelworld either. They’re unreliable, communicate poorly, and took my money without providing any service. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

The man at the counter was very rude when we checked in. First he said the place was fully booked and tried to send us across the road to another hostel with a worse room. I asked for my deposit back in cash because the cancellation on hostel world hadn’t been done, so I wouldn’t have got it back otherwise. Then he suddenly had a room for us, saying he’d have to remove someone else from it. I believe he did this to keep our deposit and rent the room to someone else for more.
