Mersey Ben Thanh Saigon Apart Hotel

We liked it so much in Saigon that we booked extra nights. The hotel is right in the middle of district 1, with plenty within walking distance, yet the rooms stay really quiet. They’re clean and cozy, get daylight, and have comfy beds and everything you need.

The little balcony looked out onto a pretty street, and the apartment was tucked away somewhere quiet despite being in District 1, close to places like the war museum, Opera House, river, Ben Thanh Markets, restaurants and bars. Staff were helpful any time of day or night. The air-con was great in the heat, Wi-Fi worked well, and the TV had YouTube and Netflix. Modern, clean bathroom with a powerful hot shower. Modern, comfortable apartments and excellent value. We loved staying here and would come back.

The place was dark, dirty and felt extremely unsafe. Neither room lock worked, so someone could easily have come over the balcony and robbed us. When we told staff, they didn’t want to help at first and asked me to send a video showing the door wouldn’t lock. That made no sense to me, since they’d still need to come fix it. They then offered another room, but its locks were held with electrical tape. Why was it taped, and how was that supposed to make me feel safer? The hotel was nothing like its online description. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, even someone I disliked. Only consider it if you have one backpack and can keep your things with you at all times.

Check-in was easy thanks to clear communication, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Mersey is conveniently located near many spots, and the building has an elevator, which is a big plus. My room was comfortable and clean, with a large window bringing in lots of natural light, something surprisingly hard to find in Saigon. I’d definitely recommend it.
