Nicecy Hotel - Yersin Street

The location in D1 is good, the rooms are kept okay, and the staff did try to help with alternatives. I appreciated their attitude during a frustrating stay. Laundry costs 50k per Kg. The main problem was the air conditioning. In room 606 it heated the room despite my checking the settings. Staff moved me to 604, where it cooled but screeched all night. I asked in the morning and was assigned 503, whose AC ran like a fan and still hadn't cooled the room after 20 minutes. When I raised it, a staff member said, 'it cant be helped if u feel that way'. Maybe they were annoyed, but it wasn't my fault. I left it on while I went to breakfast, and over an hour later the room was still warmer than the corridor. I asked Agoda, my booking agent, to help. The hotel staff told Agoda the AC was working as expected, then gave me rooms 608 and 602 to test. Both had poor cooling. I chose 608, though 602 had a balcony and window and was described as an upgrade. It faces direct sun from morning until 4pm, good luck to whoever stays there. Room 608 didn't get cool, but at least it was cooler than the corridor and better than 606 or 503. It still wasn't as cool as 604. The power cuts when you leave, so after two hours waiting for it to become tolerable, it still wasn't comfortable enough. Most room TVs weren't working, though the fittings were normal. Showers can be troublesome when hot water pressure varies. Some rooms also have awful fittings, like a toilet one inch from the wall. The WiFi kept dropping, so browsing was unreliable, pages loaded halfway before disconnecting, and video might work with buffering. It seems there have been recent renovations, but things aren't working well. Check the AC coolant, pressure, and filters. An engineer shouldn't call it 'normal' just because air comes out. If you don't mind sweating because of inadequate AC, or only need somewhere to sleep, this could work. There are also rooms for 2hrs if you like.

The shower was dangerously slippery, leaked water, and rain came into the room. The hotel is above a very noisy local market, and the place felt as dirty as the market below. Our room was dirty too, with torn, dirty sheets and very dirty towels. I strongly recommend against booking here. I made that mistake despite seeing many negative reviews on Agoda and other sites. There's a hotel 100 meters away at the same price, ten levels above this one and including breakfast.

The best part was having a balcony where I could enjoy morning coffee. The room was clean, the amenities worked, and there were no noise issues. Staff were friendly and spoke English. The lift can take a maximum of three people. Good value for the stay. Items in the fridge cost extra, while the water, coffee, and tea on the tray are free. I had all of those with no extra charge.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a good fit for a long stay. The manager and staff were very accommodating, and I highly recommend the place. One suggestion: a telephone in the room would make it quicker to reach reception.
