Paradise Saigon Boutique Hotel & Spa

Flight disruptions meant I needed to move my booking four days later, so I sent a date change request through Booking.com, which still allowed me to request one. The hotel refused, saying policy and availability prevented a change, even though I could see rooms listed for those exact dates. Part of the booking had already been paid, and they didn't offer to help or suggest any reasonable option, such as a small fee to change the dates. They just said no, it was their policy. Very disappointing service. Policies are one thing, but some basic flexibility and customer care would have helped.

Getting around District 1 is easy from here, with Bui Vien Walking Street about 10 minutes away and Ben Thanh Market about five. Check-in was easy and service was good. The building only has one lift, but it was fast. There's a happy hour from 4-7pm, though my cocktail was so disappointing I couldn't finish it. Better to stick with beer. The hotel isn't wheelchair accessible, with only stairs leading into the lobby. My room was smaller than expected, especially with two large suitcases, and the building feels dated rather than modern. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean. The mini fridge is really more of a cooler, so don't expect beer to stay properly cold. You can call for an ice bucket. The pool was tiny, so I didn't bother swimming. I'd keep a stay to three nights or less since the rooms are too cramped for longer.

We booked because of the pool, then were told children had to be 18 to use it. Later, after dinner, we wanted drinks and were told we could sit in the dining area in the foyer. A few groups joined us, then a staff boy turned off the lights and said we couldn't have them on. We all protested and asked for just one light, but he still made us sit in the dark. It didn't make us feel welcome. The staff were quite arrogant, and check-in was a nightmare. We paid the hotel directly and asked for a refund, but they told us to go through Booking.com. The service was disgusting. I'll never go back. Worst experience ever.

We stayed in the premium city view twin room and had a great time. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was awesome. The hotel is a perfect distance from everything without being on a busy street. Markets, fashion streets on the other side, museums, the zoo, and more were all within walking distance. You just have to work up the courage to cross the road first, hehe.
