Phuong Van Hotel

The décor was lovely, but the facilities and staff fell short of what I expected. I thought the double bed would be at the top of a bunk bed, and the toilet was blocked when we arrived. The whole place was noisy, and the doors barely cover the openings, so outside sounds come right through. Staff don't speak English. A bit disappointing, and I won't return.

We paid the price we had booked at Vintage hotel, but on arrival they put us in a different hotel or hostel. The owner said that was fine because he owned both places, and didn't seem to care that the room was shabby and completely different. Ants covered the floors, paint was peeling off the ceiling onto our bed, and everything, even the comforter, was worn out. We asked to move and got a nearly identical room. It had no ants at first, but they came back within a few hours. We weren't the only ones with this experience. At least three other couples or groups seemed to have been treated similarly.

A decent place if you spend most of your time out. The bed was nice, and the surface was good. English wasn't the best, and there was free bottled water. Getting your luggage up the stairs was difficult, too.

The owner was very kind and it was a good place to stay. It can get a little noisy because the hotel is near a pub or bar.
