Ruby Hotel

The guy at the nail parlour was kind and apologized, but the receptionist could have saved us three or four hours in a foreign country. I'm very disappointed. We booked Ruby Saigon a few days earlier, but when we arrived they wouldn't give us the superior room we'd reserved. They said it was unavailable because of water logging, something they could have called to tell us before we spent three hours traveling there. They didn't offer a refund at first, and instead suggested a smaller room we hadn't booked. The receptionist wasn't willing to work out an adjustment for us. After another hour and calls with several people, they agreed to refund us, but the message confirming it was poorly written and didn't say the problem was on their end. See the image below.

There are no bar or pool facilities, but I'd still recommend this hotel. It's ideally placed near the market, walk street, Jackaroo Bar, and several great places to eat. The rooms were spotless, the shower was hot, and the bed was really comfortable. There's a travel agency downstairs that can arrange tours in HCM and Hanoi, including the Mekong Delta and Halong Bay. Bill at the agency was VERY helpful.

We got to the hotel at 3 AM for our two-night stay. The staff were friendly, picked up when we called on Whatsapp, and came outside to meet us. It's a small hotel, but the rooms are cozy and good value for money.

There's a CircleK convenience store right next door, and plenty of Halal food about a five-minute walk away. The hotel is near the shopping area. It's a small place with two rooms on each floor. Our room was spacious, with two queen beds, and VERY clean. The bed isn't a spring mattress, but we still slept well after a tiring day of shopping.
