Saigon Garden Hill Apartment & Resort

The location is presented as being close to the city in Binh Thanh on Facebook, Airbnb and other platforms, but the actual address is in Go Vap, nearer the airport. That feels very misleading. They also call this a resort and service apartment, but after nearly two months here, I can say the service has been awful. The room is supposed to be cleaned Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 AM. The cleaner "forgot" today, and last week, while I was in the hospital, they somehow "forgot" for a whole week, even though I kept paying. I had a high fever and was bedridden before that. I often have to message management just to find out when the maid will come. Even when I leave in the morning to give them time, I come back to an uncleaned room. Sometimes the cleaning cart is left outside as if work is happening, but when I check later, nothing has been done. When I pointed out mouse droppings in the apartment, management promised traps, but two days later there were none. The cleaners then refused to clean after I showed them the droppings again. The monthly arrangement came with another surprise: a five million dong deposit that wasn't mentioned in the advertised price. They also charge an extra 10% for a tax invoice, which you never receive, even if you ask. I want my money back. Management is clueless, the cleaning staff are incredibly lazy, and this is nowhere near a resort. Probably the worst service apartment in Vietnam. I would never recommend it. It feels like an absolute scam. Most residents seem to be university students drinking by the pool and smoking area until the early hours. If you want a dorm-like environment, this might suit you, though I doubt many people really want that. The place also advertises a gym, but most equipment is broken and outdated, likely over 20 years old. People pay extra for gym and pool access, so why advertise a service that doesn't exist? When booking, the listings make it sound like a city location, but the address is in Go Vap. And the place is currently mostly filled with students drinking late. The photos and description don't match the experience.

I booked during a promotion for just 250 000 dong (20 dollars) a night, so the price was very good. The room had AC, which is much needed in Ho Chi Minh. I slept okay, though the pillows were too hard for my neck. The TV's internet connection kept cutting out. A technician fixed it temporarily, but after I rebooted it, the problem came back. Down at the pool there were leaves floating around, and no soft mattresses when I was there.

The service was what stood out for me. The front desk helped with my online packages, and the manager called me a taxi to the airport and helped load my bags without me having to ask twice. People here are really helpful. It's close to everything, with food all around. Lol. Nothing fancy, but the basics are good. The pool is cleaned every day, and the kids love it. Free laundry twice a week is a nice perk. The Wi-Fi was slow at first, but they upgraded it while I was staying here.

There was plenty of scooter parking, and I enjoyed using the pool. The room was clean and had what I needed. They did my laundry and cleaned the room twice a week. I'd stay at this hotel on my next trip.
