Thanh Truong Hotel

We'd stayed at this hotel several times before and know Ho Chi Minh well, so we booked four rooms for our family of eight through Booking.com more than six months ahead. When we arrived at night, the hotel said only one room was available and the other three had been cancelled. The receptionist called the owner, who said he'd sent Booking.com a cancellation notice for us, but we never received one. When we asked for proof of the email or other communication, he said he didn't have any. That morning, we'd also reconfirmed through Booking.com that we would check in at night, and the hotel had approved and noted it. After several calls and attempts to negotiate with the owner or person in charge, we had to find another hotel that night for all eight of us. It was a hassle, especially since nearby hotels also hadn't updated their room availability on Booking.com. The hotel didn't even try to help us find somewhere else. We felt betrayed and treated without consideration. Were they expecting all eight of us to fit in one room? 😅 I'd avoid this hotel. I've also seen other unpleasant reviews about its administration.

The location works really well for Malaysian visitors. There are halal restaurants and shops downstairs selling telekung, hijab, and textiles for the Malaysian market. Prices are affordable, and they accept Malaysian ringgit too.

I didn't stay overnight, but I had the best foot and neck massage ever. I feel like I'm flying instead of walking. Fully recommend it!

I picked this place for one night because it was near halal street. In the middle of the night, people started banging on my door and shouting. There were just two of us, both women, and I was haunted by the fear of being K word. I opened the door and saw a few people I think were police, along with a hotel employee. They banged on every room door without any manners and asked us to show our passports. I had no idea why, and they didn't bother to explain. I felt so unsafe and traumatized that I couldn't sleep any more, so I checked out immediately at 4 AM. The same guy was at reception and didn't even bother to apologize. I don't recommend this hotel for safety reasons, especially if you're alone or only with girls. I still feel traumatized, and thinking about it is terrifying. Better find another hotel that can provide more security.
