The Common Room Project Hostel

We booked the VIP room for three people, and it was spacious enough for us and great value. Breakfast was included and quite enjoyable, and the staff were very kind. Finding the hotel was confusing, especially for Grab drivers. They wouldn't go into the alley in front of it. Still, we had a fantastic experience.

The street is peaceful, and while the hotel is about 3-4 kilometres from the city centre, I thought the location was pretty good. The rooms are very clean and well designed. They're a bit small, but still adequate for two people. Breakfast isn't a buffet, it's an à la carte menu with six items. A buffet would give guests more choice. I'd recommend this place for a short stay, rather than a long one.

The complimentary breakfast was great, with generous servings and good coffee and noodles. I had the VIP room and really liked it. The location in District 5 is fantastic, though I'd call the hotel's location just okay when it comes to getting around: most Grab drivers have trouble finding it and won't drive into the alley in front for pickup. Keep that in mind when booking.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was great for reaching Vietnamese and Chinese food within a short walk. But the room, 402, was small, old and dirty. The bed, pillows and blanket were dirty, the bathroom ceiling was dirty too, and the rest of the room didn't feel clean. The fridge was really noisy, and breakfast options were limited. The hotel looks like a three-star place, but the room quality and standard felt more like two stars. You can find somewhere better for the same price.
