Wanderlust Saigon Hostel

The room was cold at night because they didn't provide a blanket, then hot and stuffy during the day with no AC. They don't give out keys, so the door stays open all day and locks only when it's shut. There were 15 beds in one small room, plus a guy sleeping on the floor, with almost no space for belongings and backpacks scattered around. There were no lockers in the room, and just one shower and one toilet for all 16 people. It's very cheap, but I wouldn't say it's worth it. One of the worst hostels I've stayed in. I'd pay a bit more for somewhere better.

My friend said this was the best bargain in the area, at only USD $4 per dorm. I thought the customer service was a bit unfriendly. The front of the hostel is rented to a beverage stall, and the guy there was rude. Maybe his attitude is what made me think the hostel staff weren't friendly.

The place is cheap and has AC, so I guess it was okay, but I did wonder how it got 3.8 stars. At night they lock you in or out with a roller door, and we got woken up several times by people banging on it. In the morning we had to crawl out underneath because I felt bad waking the sleeping beauty on the sofa. Apart from that, it was a good stay.

There isn't much floor space, so the dorm felt overcrowded. The beds are three levels high, which is no fun to climb, day or night, and there are lots of narrow stairs to get to the dorm. The kitchen is small, and the location wasn't convenient for me: everything nearby closes early and there aren't good places to eat close by.
