Welcome Home Homestay - Hostel

There was a thick layer of dust everywhere, and the bed looked so unclean that we put our own blankets down before using it. The “Double deluxe room with balcony” was nothing like what I’d expect from that description, as the picture shows. The staff were friendly, so I’m giving one extra star for that, but the rooms really need to be cleaned.

We had clean rooms and great AC, and the neighborhood was peaceful, which is hard to find in HCMC. There’s plenty of good street food nearby, along with some traditional restaurants. Museums are about a 30 minute walk away. The staff were very nice, though they don’t speak English. I think their daughter does, and she translated over the phone whenever we had an issue, which worked super easily.

I’d seen the place online and went there to ask about renting a room. An older woman opened the gate, said something in Vietnamese, then shut it on me. I messaged the person renting out the room to ask why, and learned that she doesn’t rent to foreigners.

The room was basic but comfortable, and the location was good. The staff were really friendly too. A few things needed repairs, though, including the lights and bathroom door.
