Heartfelt Hideaway

We loved our time here and would happily return. It’s a true homestay, run by a really thoughtful, kind family, with lovely views of the mountains and rice fields. It’s outside the busy center, about a 10-minute bike ride or three minutes by taxi, and Grab can get there easily. They rent bikes and motorbikes. The food is fresh home cooking, made with love, though it isn’t restaurant quality. Our baby had a lovely time running around and playing with the owner’s kids.

We only stayed two nights and three days, but really enjoyed how easy it was to reach many tourist spots by bike while staying somewhere quiet and remote. The place is clean, surrounded by rice fields and mountains, and the owners are extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was good, with coffee or tea, omelette or pancake, fruit, and bread. Bikes are free, and motorbikes can be rented. The pool and common areas are nice. I saw washing machines, so I think laundry is possible, though we didn’t use them.

I arrived in Ninh Binh on a bus at 3 a.m. and accidentally walked into a room here instead of the hotel I’d booked. In the morning, the family living there were so kind about the mix-up and invited me to a delicious breakfast. She even arranged a ride down the street to my actual hotel. Such a generous family, thank you, and I’m sorry again for the imposition. Next time I’m in Ninh Binh, I’ll stay here.

The garden view of the mountains and rice fields is amazing. It’s about a 25-minute walk to Tam Coc, or you can rent a bike from them for 50.000. I stayed for two nights, and this was one of the best homestays I’ve been to in Vietnam. The family are lovely and always ready to help. We enjoyed a family dinner together, and they even let us cook with them. The room was very nice, with a new bathroom and everything clean. Totally recommend it!
