Tru by Hilton Lao Cai City Riverside

I felt unwell every time I was inside and relieved as soon as I left. Housekeeping uses strong chemicals in rooms with no windows and no ventilation. I got dizzy and nauseous, struggled to breathe, and was genuinely afraid I might faint or not wake up. The ventilation system didn't work. I found spray foam blocking the air ducts, though honestly, so much in this place was malfunctioning. The gaslighting was constant. Staff cooked their own food in the lobby, and the chili fumes made me cough so badly I couldn't catch my breath. When I complained, they flat-out denied that anyone was cooking. Guests smoked throughout the windowless hotel, and management did nothing. On some floors hot water lasted maybe 10 minutes. The outlets didn't work, showers leaked, and the smart TV was blocked so you couldn't actually watch anything. Wi-Fi kept disconnecting and was extremely weak when it did work. The construction quality looked terrible everywhere. Staff and contractors walked around barefoot like it was the jungle. The reception desk was often completely unmanned. Vietnamese and Chinese guests were extremely loud, and staff didn't intervene. At breakfast I got undercooked eggs and fruit that was clearly cut with knives used for meat and garlic. Oanh and Diep were the only two honest, professional people there. Everyone else lied to my face about obvious problems happening right in front of us. This place is a health hazard. The Hilton brand should be ashamed.

The bed and pillows were so good I really didn't want to get up. The room was new and clean, soundproofing was good, and the river view was excellent. The staff were kind and helpful too. Breakfast could be better. The coffee came from a low-quality preserved concentrate, and I expected better.

Excellent location, and the staff were very accommodating. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and everything worked well. It had all a solo traveler could want, though the room was a little small and might feel cramped for a couple. The AC also seemed a bit strong even on its low setting.

I stayed overnight last night. The room was modern and clean, and Ahn at the front desk was patient and accommodating with me. I'll stay here again when I'm passing through.
