Mai Chau Sunrise Village

We came with a tour and the whole experience was awful. The food was cheap, tasteless, and hard to eat. We’d paid plenty for our own rooms, yet they put the whole group together in one big room and brushed off our concerns. It felt like a rip-off. Don’t come unless you want to waste your money and be treated badly.

The staff were kind and did try to help, but the rooms need a lot of work. There were termites and ants in our room and on the bed, so we switched rooms, only to find the same problem there. Also, the pool is under construction and unavailable.

Free bikes and a really nice view were a plus. Staff were 5/5. Food gets 3/5: fresh, so you won't go hungry, but it had no taste. Rooms were also 3/5, with dirty stains and ants all over the floor.

I ate here over a couple of days, though I didn’t stay overnight. Everything I tried was tasty, and the staff kindly accommodated my requests for a late lunch and dinner on two occasions. Breakfast had five choices, including fruit, omelettes, and pancakes. I liked the black coffee, and the sweet bananas were an easy snack. Lunch and dinner had around three starters and three mains, plus dragon fruit and pineapple. There was rice, vegetables, chicken gravy, egg rolls, spring rolls, and pork dishes. As in other villages, vegetarian choices were limited, but the options they had were delicious. I’d recommend trying the food if you’re in Mai Chau.
