Don’t be fooled by the five-star reviews from people who stayed here four or five years ago. At present it’s bare-bones, run-down, and infested with ants. The air conditioning and mini fridge barely work, the fan rattles loudly even at its lowest setting, and the kettle is dirty. If you drive, you have to park on the street. It’s best treated as somewhere to sleep at night. For me, this is a two-star hotel and poor value. Pay twice as much and you can get a nice four-star place a little farther inland, about 100 meters away. The staff are good-natured, the toilet is relatively clean, and it’s near the cliché Nha Trang beach. But go somewhere else, Nha Trang isn’t that pretty, is very crowded, and is full of tourist traps.

The staff were thoughtful about costs in ways I didn’t expect. They upgraded my room without charging extra, sold the four-island day tour for 175000VND even though they’d quoted 180000VND/person, and let me shower after returning the room from the tour. They also stored my things for free. I rented a motorbike for 100000VND/day, used it for a little over three hours, and they charged me only half a day without me asking. The room itself was clean and pleasant for a reasonable price, and the staff were kind and seemed to care about guests leaving happy. If you’re on a tight budget and looking for a clean place near the beach, I’d recommend Blue Star Hotel. It’s a good option if you want a 4 or 5 stars hotel without spending too much.

The beach is only 100m away, and a twin room cost 14 usd. The staff were kind and very hospitable. I loved the place.
