Comodo Nha Trang Hotel

Breakfast was a major letdown. Much of the food was cold, unappealing, or seemed stale, and we found most of it inedible. We ended up eating outside for the rest of the stay. The beds were another problem. The mattresses were old and completely worn out, with no support. We stayed four nights and didn’t get one proper night’s sleep. They felt uneven and uncomfortable, far from what I’d expect at 5-star prices. We checked in late and went straight to bed. In the morning, there were obvious, deeply set stains on the inside of the sheets we’d slept in. It was revolting to think the bedding hadn’t been changed or checked properly. The room was just as bad: smudges and stains on the walls, grimy-feeling surfaces, and worn, chipped, outdated fixtures. The whole place seemed neglected, and we felt uncomfortable touching things. Management said they’d clean the room thoroughly after we raised this, but when we came back, little or nothing had changed. We were eventually moved to a different room. It was slightly better, but still outdated, poorly maintained, and far from hygienic. For a property calling itself 5-star, this hotel is misleading. It would struggle to meet basic 3-star standards. The response to our complaints was inadequate, and the stay was disappointing throughout. I’d advise people to book elsewhere.

We went to the reception about the strange, unpleasant smell in our two rooms on level 17. They showed us rooms on level 6, which smelled the same, then level 15, which was much better. The hotel is old, with odd smells in different places, and the shower blinds weren’t as clean as they should have been. Its best features were the rooftop pool, though it’s not large, and the small gym. The view from the pool is great, and you can see the fireworks during the New Year 2026 countdown. It’s right by the beach, but there are many other hotels along the beach if that’s the view you want. We stayed three nights at Comodo Hotel. One thing to remember: this was the only hotel I encountered in my travels around Vietnam that took a VND500K deposit at check-in, so make sure you get it back in case they forget. It’s well located, near Vinpearl and many other places. In case international tourists need medical help in Nha Trang, there’s a nearby international hospital called Vinmec. I was told you can’t go elsewhere because local policy requires an interpreter. Vinmec charges VND900 for “emergency” service so you “don’t have to wait.” Medication isn’t expensive, though.

We stayed in the Panoramic Ocean View Suite and could enjoy stunning scenery from sunrise to sunset. The 27th-floor infinity pool is gorgeous, with a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the ocean. The complimentary full breakfast buffet also had a great variety to start the day. Comodo is right along the beautiful shores of Nha Trang. If you want the ultimate luxury experience, I can’t recommend this room highly enough.

The loss wasn’t a small amount, but what upset me most was where the money disappeared from: a closet where we kept our underwear. It felt as if someone on staff had deliberately gone through our personal things, and that left me disgusted and unsafe. I reported it to reception straight away. They politely took down the complaint and said they’d look into it, but enough time has passed and there have been no results, apologies, or even an explanation from management. Just silence. It’s astonishing that a hotel charging guests for a stay would let this happen and not even make a real attempt to investigate or compensate us. The money went missing from our room on February 1st, right in the middle of our vacation. Today is February 7th, and we’ve already checked out. It wiped out the good feelings we’d had and left us regretting our choice. Nha Trang is a beautiful city, but now this hotel and its irresponsible staff are tied to a horrible memory. I knew Comodo Hotel Nha Trang wasn’t a five-star resort and was prepared to overlook some problems, especially since the price was reasonable for central Nha Trang. The old bathroom curtain had mold on it and the tiles, the fridge and cupboards smelled strange, and the linens and towels had visible stains and looked well past their best. That didn’t bother me much at first. The first few days were quiet, and I enjoyed the beach and excursions, so the hotel’s condition seemed minor by comparison. If you do stay at Comodo Hotel, I strongly recommend taking strict precautions. Don’t leave money, cards, phones, jewelry, or documents in the room. Keep valuables with you or ask reception for a safe, though after my experience I wouldn’t trust one either. Photograph and video the room at check-in, and keep records in case you need to file a claim through the booking platform or insurance company.
