Em Oi Boutique Hotel

I've seldom, perhaps never, seen a more pleasing lobby and reception area in a boutique hotel in Vietnam. It's so inviting you feel you have to walk in and look around, even if you're only passing by. The staff are all very friendly and speak English well. A terrific business. I also happen to know the owner was extremely supportive of the community during the most recent catastrophic flooding in Nha Trang.

The staff were friendly and quick to help whenever I had a question, and the laundry service was efficient. I slept well in a comfortable bed, with air conditioning that worked very effectively. Breakfast was a weak spot: there weren’t many carb choices, and the sliced bread and ready-made waffles were stale. The location was okay, though not especially close to much. I stayed two nights as part of a group cycling trip. The shower temperature was also tricky to control, swinging from cold to very hot with barely a turn of the tap.

I loved how relaxing the half-shaded pool was, and there were plenty of fruit and vegetable choices in the food area. The rooms have a modern look and practical design, with several spots to lounge by the pool or read in the lobby. The staff were really friendly. I was there for two days and never saw the bar open, though maybe it was just an off day. They seemed to offer yoga classes, but I didn’t hear about them when we arrived. I would definitely have joined if I’d known.

At 2 a.m., I was told to cancel my reservation because the hotel couldn’t provide the room I had already booked and paid for. When I asked to speak with the manager, they refused. The hotel manager said, with the bodyguard, that he didn’t want to talk to me, then hung up. I was shocked by that behavior. The management was extremely unprofessional, and this level of service is unacceptable. I strongly suggest reviewing the qualifications and altitude of the hotel manager.
