La Mer Bali Mui Ne

La Mer Bali Mui Ne was one of my favorite stays in Vietnam. The whole visit felt straightforward and well organized, but still personal. The hotel is clean and well cared for, with simple, lovely interiors and a calm atmosphere that doesn’t feel put on. Breakfast was good, served by the ocean in a relaxed setting, and those mornings were a highlight. The people made the stay especially good. Tung, the Director, San San, the Manager, and Nam and Truc were approachable, practical, and always ready to help. They arranged my desert safari jeep and return trip, gave honest shopping advice, and offered discounts at local restaurants. It felt like they cared about the guest experience, not just the booking. One evening we shared food and drinks, including local rice wine. It was a natural, genuine introduction to Vietnamese culture, not some tourist activity. We’re still in touch, which says a lot about the people who run the place. Of all the places I’ve travelled, this one is comfortably in my top five. If I come back to Vietnam, La Mer Bali Mui Ne would be my first choice, not just in Mui Ne. It’s well run, has a great atmosphere, and the hospitality feels sincere.

The room cost 1.6 million, which is unbelievable for what you get. It’s tiny, around 10 m², with a 2 m² bathroom, and there’s nowhere to open even a small suitcase. No window, no soundproofing, and basically no privacy. Even with my Marshall Motif 2 and its strong A.N.C, I could clearly hear people talking outside :)) My wife booked an “inner courtyard view,” but we got a street view and all the sounds of road life. When we arrived, nobody came out to show us where to park. Breakfast was a poor menu with only one selection per person :)). And the so-called pool is too small to swim in. I don’t get why this “hotel” has 4.6 stars on Google and 8.7 on Booking. If you’re thinking of coming here to relax, read the 1-star reviews first.

The room was tiny, with no place to put a bag, and the floor stayed sandy throughout our visit. The bar next door played loud music late into the night, and we could hear it clearly from inside. It isn’t really beachfront: you can see the ocean, but there’s no access. There was no privacy by the pool, which looks straight into the ground-floor rooms. The reception area was full of flies, even around the food prep area. Service was poor and breakfast was disappointing. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Vietnam.

I spent three nights here in mid-July 2025, during the hotel’s second month of opening, so everything still felt new. My second-floor room was very clean and well maintained, and the minibar had a nice, affordable snack selection. The front desk staff and in-house security guard were lovely and made the stay much more enjoyable. The building and pool are real highlights, with a design that attracts visitors and influencers taking photos. It’s a small boutique seaside hotel, so it’s not the place for a full day of resort lounging. But it’s great for a swim or a lazy start, then sitting on the patio and watching the waves. Breakfast is chosen a day ahead from an à la carte menu, and you can mix and match bread, soup, noodles, and drinks like coffee, tea, and juice. Getting around was easy. I came from HCM on Hanh Cafe, and the bus dropped me right at the hotel. A seafood restaurant next door serves nice local à la carte dishes, and there are minimarts and coffee shops nearby. The town is basically one long road, easy to explore on foot. Grab bikes and food delivery worked easily too, and I tried both. On my last day, the staff went out of their way to make sure my pickup bus arrived, then waited with me. They took really good care of me, and I’m grateful. This was a wonderful stay, and I’d recommend it if you want a beach destination feel and nice decor without staying at a full resort. I hope to come back.
