Nam Anh Hotel - Hostel

Breakfast came from a nearby place. The egg banh mi was tasty, but having the same thing every morning got repetitive. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, though there are some things that need attention. The ceiling had mold, and the bathroom needed a deep clean to get rid of a lingering smell. None of this alone was a dealbreaker, but the bedsheets also had stains and cigarette burns, so more care when changing them would help.

The location is a little different from what’s shown on booking.com. Still, this was a very good place for a short stay. The rooms matched the description and were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive, and could help arrange tours around Phong Nha, buses to the next stop, and pedal bike or scooter hire. Breakfast was basic but good enough.

The room was fairly average: concrete-looking wallpaper, some corridor and road noise, and a window without a view. The bed was comfortable, the TV had about 100 channels, and Wi-Fi was good. The location is just outside the official walking-only area at night, so transport and motorbikes can reach the hotel at any time. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful, made scooter or semi-automatic rental easy, and gave good advice about what to see.

We got a very spacious room with a hot shower, friendly staff, and a free banh mi for breakfast. The place was super affordable and in a great spot, just a one-minute walk from central backpackers, where the bus drops you off. We rented a scooter there too, at a very fair price. Had a lovely stay, though I forgot to take photos!
