Anja Beach Resort & Spa

The sea looked inviting at first, and getting to the beach was easy, but the water had floating bits and debris. Later, fishing boats came back with polystyrene, old nets, and rubbish in their wake. The pool was pleasant in layout, though cracked concrete and loose decking made it look worn. At least the coconuts had been cleared from above the loungers. We slept comfortably, and our villa-style apartment was spacious and near reception. The bed was huge, made from two small doubles pushed together. Some floor tiles didn't match, and the pale lampshades seemed out of place. Our shower leaked enough to flood both the cubicle and bathroom floor. The Anja towels were threadbare, and the many stern notices listing charges for stains, damage, and lost items made it hard to relax. We'd booked nearly ten months ahead after seeing the glowing reviews and polished photos, so our expectations were high. The airport pickup was smooth, and check-in was easy, but the welcome felt merely polite. The worst moment came the next morning, when we found small blood spots on the sheet that clearly weren't ours. Staff took photos and changed the bedding after we reported it, but showed no concern or apology. For this price, that felt like a real lack of care. Staff stayed courteous but detached throughout. Nobody checked in to see if we were comfortable or needed anything. We swam now and then and liked being close to the beach, but the stay felt transactional. I wouldn't return. The eastern side of Phu Quoc has cleaner water, better beaches, and hotels that seem more attentive for the same price.

Great spot, with the bar, restaurant, pool, beach, and sunbeds all right there. The beds are a good size and comfortable, the food tastes good, and the drinks are reasonably priced. You can watch a beautiful sunset from the resort. If you're not Keren, complaining about coconuts in the palms or threadbare towels, you'll definitely enjoy staying here. 😋

The buffet is amazing, the place is very clean, and the staff are lovely and ready to help. Being right by the beach is a real bonus, especially for those beautiful sunsets.

Each room has a little verandah, and the beds are comfortable. The hotel feels intimate, sits right on the beach, and has lovely staff. The beach was the cleanest we found on the island, and the sunsets are amazing. Great cocktails too.
