Aurora Beach House

I spent three nights by myself at Aurora and was happy with it. The room was reasonably priced, around 300k a night, and the sunset view over the sea was beautiful and poetic. The bed was clean and the air conditioner was strong, which was convenient. The sink drain smelled, though, so I didn’t use it. Maybe that pipe needs checking.

After four nights, our group found the place quiet, comfortable, and good value. There were no other guests while we were there, and we slept well. The rooms stayed cool, and the owner was quite nice. We liked being a bit away from the entertainment center, but Aurora won’t suit you if you want to be near Duong Dong or An Thoi, with lots of food and entertainment close by. For 350k a night on a weekday, the room was well equipped: a comfortable 1m8 bed, soft pillows, clean sheets and blankets, a modern air conditioner, mini fridge, sink, paper towels, kettle, hair dryer, high table and chairs, big wardrobe, slippers, and bathroom shampoo, shower gel, and toothbrush. Upstairs rooms have balconies with a view. There’s a water filter on the ground floor for refills, and a fire extinguisher. It’s a quiet area near seafood rafts and a local grocery store. There are some drawbacks. You don’t live with the homeowner, and with only four rental rooms, you’ll need to text if you need anything. It’s not ideal for a big group. The upstairs room seems best for two people, and I don’t know how many beds are in the two ground floor rooms. Some facilities need upkeep: my room’s door handle wobbled, the ceiling leaked, the bathroom handle had fallen off, and the bathroom tiles had rusty spots. The parking area is cramped, perhaps enough for five or six cars, and hard to maneuver in. Luckily, we were the only ones there, so it didn’t affect us. It’s also not soundproof. We could hear our friend in the next room sneeze. There’s a small kitchen island with a sink, but no kitchen.

There isn’t much around for entertainment or dining, so it’s a good spot to unwind and enjoy Phu Quoc’s calm. The sunrise is amazing, though room 4 is surrounded by a huge coconut tree. The room was okay for me, but the big mold stain on the ceiling needs fixing.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and we rented motorbikes to explore the fishing village area, including Tien Son Peak and Suoi Tien (Fairy Stream). It made for an unforgettable trip. We spent three nights in an upstairs room at this four-room homestay among floating houses. The view was amazing and the peaceful setting was perfect for watching the sunrise. We felt relaxed and far from the city bustle.
