La Mer Resort

The location is really good, with plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes and lots of choices for a proper meal. The people were kind and helpful, and the pool was clean and warm. Breakfast changed its selection each morning, and the neighbors’ pet dogs would sometimes come say hello. They were friendly and fun to play with. The shower area isn’t separated, but that didn’t bother me. Water pressure was low, though, and getting the temperature right could be difficult. I’d also get the princess bed curtain ready a few hours before bed, then check inside it for mosquitoes about an hour before sleeping. If you miss one, you could end up itchy and short on sleep. We did get mosquito bites and saw some bugs, but that comes with choosing a tropical island, right? I’d come back if we visit Phu Quoc again.

If you need a reliable internet connection, this probably isn’t the spot. The Wi-Fi was unusable, and the mobile network wasn’t great either. There were also a few nights when Russians partied outside late, and nobody asked them to quiet down. I’d suggest fixing the internet and reminding guests to keep the noise down after 1 or 2 in the morning. For a relaxed stay, though, the place has a lot going for it. We had a spacious bungalow room with a fridge and everything we needed. It’s close to the beach and city centre, the staff were attentive, breakfast was good, and there’s a nice pool with sunbeds. If you want to switch off and unwind, it could work well.

The garden and quieter street made for a peaceful, cosy stay, and the location is close to the center. Breakfast was sensational. I also appreciated the daily cleaning, extra beach towels, helpful staff, and the mosquito net over the bed. The outdoor shower and bathroom were a lovely feature, and the pool was nice too. Some things could be better: the rooms felt a bit old, and the gap between the door and its frame could let insects or geckos in. We also had some noisy guests on a few nights. Still, I really loved staying here and recommend it.

The mattress was very comfortable and we slept well. Everything was clean, tidy and well maintained, with plenty of towels and no unpleasant smells or other problems. Staff were warm, helpful and always smiling. Breakfast had a great selection and was high quality, and the pool was lovely, with water that wasn’t overly chlorinated. Great value for the money.
