SCAM! We booked through agoda, arrived, and found that this place didn't exist. The phone number on the booking was out of service, and we were stranded for hours.

This is complete nonsense. The contact number listed is no longer in service. The receptionist tries that same number to reach you, but then can't check you in. In short, it feels like a scam and you'll waste time and money. I wouldn't recommend it.
