Novotel Phu Quoc Resort

The pools and location were the main positives. There are two attractive, well-kept pools, including one beside the beach with lovely views. Our children especially liked them, as the water is around 0.8 meters deep and felt safe and comfortable. Life jackets and swimming goggles were available, and the complimentary shuttle to and from the beachside pool was convenient. Supermarkets and the night market are nearby. The rest of the stay was disappointing. On the first day, we waited nearly five hours in the lobby with our children while the room was supposedly being cleaned. After a long journey, that was frustrating and not the welcome we expected. The shared washrooms were dirty, unhygienic, and smelled bad. We found cockroaches in our room, reported them, but the staff took no effective action and the problem continued. Many floor tiles around the property were loose or uneven, creating a tripping risk, especially for children and older guests. The food was average and below what we expected from a resort of this category. It was acceptable, but we enjoyed local roadside food more. The reception staff were the most disappointing. They seemed indifferent to guest concerns and not especially interested in resolving issues. The pools, family facilities, and location couldn’t make up for the long check-in delay, cleanliness problems, cockroaches, maintenance issues, and poor service. Overall, it fell short of expectations.

The staff and chef did a commendable job keeping breakfast running smoothly, even when the resort seemed almost full during my visit. There was plenty of room, no waiting, and everything was refilled quickly. The staff were helpful and supportive, and the food was delicious. The resort has a private beach, two pools, indoor and outdoor facilities, and an excellent gym. Its location is great for the airport.

I loved the hotel's beach area, where I spent a lot of time on the loungers, and the grounds, pool, and beach are beautiful. I even saw an incredible sunset there. The location also worked well for getting to Sunset Town, Sao Beach, and Khem Beach. Breakfast had lots of choices, though nothing really stood out. I enjoyed the lobby bar's live band and happy hour on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and hot pot night at the seafood restaurant was a highlight. Room service was just okay, so I'd skip it if you can. The night market across the street is an easy walk, and I had a delicious dinner at 6 Flames. The suite was huge, which was great, but I expected more for what I paid. The shower pressure was so weak that a shower took ages, and there was no hot water. On my last night the bedroom AC stopped working, though the living room unit still worked. Housekeeping also left the room service tray and leftover food in my room the next day, something I've never had happen at a hotel. The neighbors were very loud in the evenings, with kids screaming and crying. It sounded like they were hitting each other with things, which was unsettling and really disruptive. The room could use maintenance and updating, especially at this price.

It's on the quieter side of Phu Quoc, near a night market and a street with plenty of food and massage places. The airport is close, and you can take a Grab from there. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and spacious, though expect some sand if you've been to the beach. They only change the bedsheets when you put out the card. Breakfast was much the same each day, but it never got crowded, whatever time we went. The gym was comfortable. The pickleball court is free until 3pm, and you can rent rackets and a ball for 50,000. The pool is more for lounging than swimming, and the beach is an easy walk away. Thanks to Tai for helping us check out.
