Khem Beach is only steps away, and the price is good if you'd rather skip the nearby resorts or premier residences. That's the Pearl's biggest draw. The rooms were very clean, fairly spacious, and well equipped, but ask for one facing the street. The rooms at the back get no daylight and look straight at a stone wall. The reception staff weren't rude, though we didn't find them especially welcoming or helpful. The cleaning staff were great. Also, Hotels.com should remove the restaurant photos because there's no restaurant in the hotel. The Pearl Hotel might as well be called The Rock: handy in a pinch, but hardly a rare gem.

I went in for a hair wash and came out with a sore scalp that hurt for hours. My hair felt dry and straw-like, and I could pull out a whole clump. The washing was awful, with cold water, rough handling, and painful scrubbing that made me feel like I might lose my hair. I said clearly that I was uncomfortable, but they didn't change what they were doing. Drying hurt too, and there was no gentleness or care. A terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I won't go back.

The staff were nice and friendly, and the price was affordable. The beach was clean and lovely, just a five-minute walk away, so not having a pool was fine. The thing that bothered us most was the musty smell in our room.

They clean the room every day and the service is good. The local style meant the welcome felt a little cool at first, but they were actually very nice :)

It's close to the beach, but the service was awful and the price way too high. Staff were openly asleep instead of helping us, and it was really loud at 6:30 in the morning. We stayed one night, then moved to another hotel instead of spending another night there. A nightmare.
