Vela Phu Quoc Resort

I’d stay here again if I return to PQ, and I’ll recommend it to friends. For the money, it’s clearly the best value you can get. Some bad reviews make it sound like people expect a 5* hotel for a 3* price. The beach is a stunning two-minute walk away. Hotels have claimed it, but you can still spend the whole day on the sand, and it’s 100 times better than Khem beach, which was a total joke. The location feels like its own little village, with shops and restaurants lining the street to the resort and beach. I haven’t seen that elsewhere on the island. The reception team works hard to keep everyone happy, even with some very rude guests, and the staff are kind. Our room was comfortable, especially the super king bed. Breakfast had plenty of choices, including pho, pancakes, omelet, and fruit.

We slept like babies, the room was so quiet. It had a super king bed with a medium-firm mattress, a balcony, TV, wardrobe, large shower, and amenities. The resort sits in a well-kept tropical garden, with a lovely pool surrounded by plants and flowers, plus lounge chairs. We spent five nights here and loved it. The location is hard to beat, with a beautiful beach just two minutes away, and restaurants, bars, convenience stores, and massage places along the street. That quieter lane off the main road felt like a peaceful little village for walking around. Breakfast was very nice too, with lots of fruit and salads, eggs and pancakes made to order, and hot dishes. Most of all, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Great value in a beautiful setting, we’ll be back soon!

My motorbike disappeared after I parked it inside the resort, right in front of reception. The staff said they had no idea what happened and didn’t seem in any hurry to help. I asked them to check the cameras and politely asked to borrow a hotel bike for a few minutes because I had urgent work to do. They refused, raised their voices, and blamed me. The manager was rude and dismissive, insisting it was all my fault and saying they wouldn’t help unless I paid to borrow a bike. Later, it turned out a guy from the hotel had taken my motorbike to ride around with his girlfriend and then returned it as if nothing had happened. Nobody apologized or took responsibility. Very unprofessional, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

A very bad experience. The online price is lower, then they seem to get more money from you another way. When the cleaners came, they claimed we had taken a room item and asked for extra money. They said we’d taken the remote. I waited until I got home, unpacked everything, and checked before writing this review.
