The room and bed were comfortable and well kept, but the stay had plenty of downsides. The location feels isolated, though that could change as the area develops. Food was disappointing across Vietnamese, Asian, and Western dishes. The hallway smelled unpleasantly like glue, and sound insulation was poor for a relatively new building. The hotel’s taxi service costs much more than Grab, so I’d download the Grab app. Staff were friendly and tried their best, although many seemed young and inexperienced.

The rooms are okay, but there’s nothing nearby. The hotel restaurant is very poor, and breakfast was the worst I’ve had in Vietnam, extremely poor.

The rooms are spacious and the service is nice, but the hot and cold water system was awful. In winter, the shower kept switching between very hot and very cold. We won’t return unless it’s fixed. I tried three rooms, each with a different but bad setting. Turning it to cold gave me very hot water. Breakfast was average. The buffet was mixed: the seafood was reasonably fresh, but everything else was below average. The beef, for example, was as chewy as rubber.

It’s a great location and one of the few good hotels in Van Don. Still, expectations should be modest. A 4-star place here feels like a 3-star hotel in Hanoi.

This new 4-star hotel impressed me a lot and surpassed what I expected. I’ve worked as a tour guide and travel agent for more than 30 years.
