Romeliess Hotel

We stayed from 16/02-18/02/2024. The hotel was handy for shops and the beach, and some rooms have sea views. Staff at reception, room service, food service, and security were friendly and keen to help. The buffet was acceptable. Our room was dated, but tidy, and the toilet was clean. A reasonable fit for the price.

We picked this place for its spot right on the beach, and the location really is great. The room was nice, and the bathroom was okay, but it smelled of chemicals and the shower barely had any pressure, so getting washed took ages. The air conditioner leaked into the bathroom and down the bedroom wall, leaving the bathroom floor wet all the time. The bed was rock hard. We asked on the first afternoon about a softer mattress or a topper, but were told they didn't have either. We later asked for extra bedding or a duvet to put on top, since the bed was also painful to sit on while watching TV. That mattress alone means I wouldn't return. Breakfast was very average, and we had to ask for basics like bread. It was mostly Asian food, with no Western options. I wouldn't recommend staying here with a bed that hard.

The ocean view from our room was beautiful, though the balcony was too small for a chair to sit and enjoy it. I paid 800K dong for one night in January 2019. The room had a cockroach, which I managed to kill, and the shower water backed up. Staff came to clear the drain after I told reception. The faucet handle came off when I lifted it, so I turned the tap carefully without raising the knob. The air conditioner only ran in fan mode. Reception offered to send someone up again to check the other problems, but by then I just wanted to sleep. These things should have been fixed before the room was let. Breakfast was average, and the food was already cold at 7 AM. With the room in such poor repair and the service experience, I'll look elsewhere next time I'm in the area.

The staff were all pleasant, kind, and helpful, and you can rent bikes there too. The rooms were decent, though there was some wear and tear, and the bed felt hard to me. I'd still stay again. The location is the real draw: at one end of the beach where it's less crowded, with the sea just across the road. A balcony facing the water would make it perfect.
