Hotel Kacinari

Tony went out of his way to help when I was lost trying to find the hotel in the old town, and that made a real difference. The hotel is right in the town center, close to the main sights and restaurants. Free underground parking was very convenient, and being able to leave the car there after checkout was appreciated. The facilities were clean and high quality, with a comfortable bed and an elegant bathroom with a modern, powerful shower. Breakfast was decent and the espresso was good. A great stay.

The room had no view, just a brick wall since it was at the back of the hotel. Still, it was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was really good, and there’s private parking across the street. We stayed one night while road-tripping through the southwest Balkans, and the hotel is very close to the historic city center.

Breakfast was meant to run until 10, but by 9 the buffet was empty and we had to ask very cautiously for basic items. The bed covers weren’t clean either. We’d reserved twin and triple rooms a month ahead for our group of 18 for a weekend, but the twin beds were just separated by a piece of wood. When I asked the owner and reception why the rooms were like that, they said they were full and apologized. They weren’t polite at all. This is my honest account, and I’d suggest looking at the newer, more serious hotels around.

On checkout, they charged 30 euros for a lost keycard, even though they had another one in stock. That made leaving on a bad note. The receptionist said, “I don’t care about your review, we paid xxx amount money to build this hotel,” which I found rude. Some staff were nice, but not everyone spoke English. I’d give the place two stars, not the three I think it deserves, and there’s no way it’s a five-star hotel. I stayed here 15.07.22. The hotel itself is okay, with normal-sized carpeted rooms and a simple, okay bathroom. There’s free parking, but the road is small and the spaces are 25m away between other buildings, with only a camera for security. When we arrived, they showed us the expensive rooms first and seemed to be trying to get us to pay extra for an upgrade. They only take cash, so bring enough if you stay. The ATMs nearby charge 5 euro to withdraw. Breakfast is very basic, like what you’d get at a cheap hotel in London. Prizren is cozy but small, more of a day visit. You can walk most of the centrum in 1-2 hours.
