I visited Houw Hoek Hotel on 23 January 2026. Outside, the garden and little dam are beautiful, with a relaxed country feel. The train passing now and then adds to the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Inside, though, the restaurant and buffet area felt dirty and poorly maintained. The breakfast was one of the worst I’ve had: I ordered an English breakfast with beef sausage, bacon, and mushrooms, along with rooibos tea and a cappuccino. The toast was burnt and the meal felt carelessly prepared. The coffee was okay, but there was no oat milk. For the price, it didn’t feel worth it. Even basic details were missing, like sugar on the table or being offered any, and cutlery was set directly on the table without a table setting. Waiting time wasn’t a problem, and the outdoor setting is the highlight, with lovely views for photos or a breather. Better restaurant cleanliness and breakfast preparation would make this a much better experience. It’s an easy stop on the N2 in Grabouw.

We stayed Saturday night at Houw Hoek Hotel and found the property peaceful, spacious, and beautiful. The rooms were comfortable, and the showers were impressive. With two pools, paddle courts, putt-putt, and a zip line, there’s plenty to do. The food and drinks menu has lots of options, and my wife was especially happy with the cocktail and wine selections. Check-in was easy, and the staff were welcoming, attentive, and professional. Levona at reception deserves a special mention for her friendly welcome and big smile. The whole stay felt like a refreshing reset. A five-star experience, and I’d highly recommend it.

We had a wedding at Houw Hoek Hotel, and the venue was beautiful. The old buildings have plenty of character, and the paintings on the walls had a lot of detail and looked professionally done. The food was delicious and well prepared, and there was so much on the dessert table it was hard to choose. A beautiful wedding at a lovely venue. Keep up the good work.

Our family spent the weekend at Houwhoek and had excellent service. Rowan went out of his way to make the stay comfortable and fun. Breakfast was delicious, and I honestly have no complaints.

We’re a Muslim family of 20 and recently stayed at Houw hoek hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful part of Cape Town, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It isn’t fully halaal, but it’s halaal friendly and catered to our needs. The manager, Mercia, went out of her way to make us comfortable, and Michaela answered my daily questions in the lead-up to our December family holiday. Breakfast was delicious, with a section for halaal guests so we could choose what to eat. The children enjoyed the daily jumping castles, water slide, trampoline, and small play park. There are also nature walks, swimming pools, and spa facilities. There are no braai facilities, but we were able to drive a short distance each day to halaal restaurants such as steers at the whale mall and KFC. We’re trying to find somewhere comparable for next year’s family trip and haven’t found anything. I’d highly recommend Houwhoek hotel to everyone I know.
