Mannabay Fine Boutique Hotel

We spent a lot of time in the comfortable shared spaces, where books fill the shelves and you’re welcome to take one and settle into a sofa. The whole place feels like a home away from home, with beautiful decor and just eight rooms in a residential area. We stayed in the pom pom room, which had its own pool tucked behind tall trees for privacy. There were bookshelves in the room too, and the bathroom was just as lovely. Aquariums and a fish pond added to the calm feel. Afternoon tea starts at half 3, with cakes, tea and finger food. From the outdoor bar, you get your own view of table top mountain. I ended up taking videos because photos couldn’t do the place justice. There’s a complimentary car service into town, with pick-up within 20 miles. The staff were amazing, especially Laura and the team. Absolutely 5 star quality, and I can’t wait to see you all again in a few months.

The high tea was delicious, and the location and interior design are exquisite. The view was spectacular too, which helped make our special occasion feel worthwhile. The service, though, was incredibly disappointing. Nobody was around when we arrived, and when someone finally showed us around, they went into lots of detail about breakfast and dinner before I reminded them we’d only booked tea. Asking for anything felt like a huge favour. We also had to get up and find staff several times because orders had been forgotten, including hot chocolate, a napkin and side plates. Such a pity.

My wife and I spent a night in the Versailles Suite, and every part of the stay impressed us. The room was comfortable and luxurious, the Cape Town views were incredible, and the high tea was delicious. It was simply the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. I honestly can’t recommend Manna Bay highly enough.

The made-to-order breakfast was phenomenal, and the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was beautiful, especially the Versailles suite, with a stunning view across the city at both sunrise and sunset. I can’t recommend Manna Bay enough.
