My sister and I were treated so badly by Ted, the owner, that I would NOT RECOMMEND this guest house. We waited on the pavement for at least 45 minutes to be let in, even though he was expecting us. We only got onto the property when another guest arrived. We settled into an upstairs room. The wooden stairs were unsafe, with two open sections where a person could fall all the way to the ground. The maid had shown us an upstairs kitchen we could use, so when we were going out we thought we could reach the ground floor that way and avoid those stairs. Nobody had told us we couldn't go into that part of the house. When we realized it wasn't part of the guest house, we went back upstairs. Earlier, while waiting outside, I'd noticed the front upstairs room with a private balcony and thought it might be an option for another visit. The keys were in the lock outside, and it was obvious no guests were in there, so I opened the door to look. Ted rushed up and demanded to know who I was. I told him we were his guests, but he berated and shouted at me as if I were a child. I'm almost 70. I reminded him we'd waited in the street for 45 minutes to get in. He said I could take it or leave it, gave me five minutes to decide, and said I should leave. We were shocked at being thrown out and went to discuss what to do. He followed us, demanding to know our plans. By then his behavior felt threatening and intimidating, so we left to get help from family who live in the area. We came back with a well-built young man to help us pack. Ted came to our door and started to speak, but saw we weren't alone and walked away without a word. He couldn't bully us again with someone else there. I have never met a man as rude as Ted. Don't stay here if you don't want to be bullied and treated like a child instead of a paying customer.
