Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge

During the Cape Town Marathon, I got sick, and the night staff went out of their way to help me see a doctor. I really appreciated their kindness. They made a stressful weekend much easier, and I’d definitely stay again. At Protea Hotel Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were so welcoming. The location near the V&A Waterfront was perfect for the marathon.

Euwan at reception made my stay feel welcoming and easy. She was kind, friendly, and attentive to every detail, with a warm, professional manner. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. She’s a real asset to the hotel and deserves a promotion. Highly commendable service.

My wife treated me to my first spa visit, and the women there were helpful and very professional. The treatment was great, and the time flew by. I did wish those rooms had air conditioning, but I still enjoyed myself.

We’ve just checked in for a 10-night stay, and I’m already really disappointed. I’d booked for my wife and me, but when we arrived at 14:00, they first said check-in had changed to 15:00 this year. When we came back at 15:00, we were told the booking covered only one person, despite my original request for two. We then had to pay an extra R6000 for the 10 nights. I asked if they could help with a better view to make up for the administrative error, but they weren’t willing to accommodate us. It’s made the thought of staying here for the next 10 days uncomfortable. At this point, even if we wanted to get a refund and go elsewhere, it would take 14 to 15 working days to receive it. I’m very disappointed by how we’ve been treated and by the lack of effort to make our stay more comfortable.
