The hot tub took eight hours to heat and was still only lukewarm. It also started at 4am, which made for an unwelcome wake-up call if you wanted an early start. We’d agreed to manage the electricity ourselves, but the owner later told us he’d put in R300 without our consent and deducted it from the breakage fee. There’s no way we used that much electricity in two days. I’d never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.

The pool table, table tennis, and DSTV all worked and were useful, but the WiFi and jacuzzi were real problems. The WiFi was slow or unavailable and worked for maybe an hour during our three days there. After booking, I was told electricity would cost an extra R240-R300. At check-in, they said the stay included only a set number of units, I think about 70, and that we’d need to buy more to use the jacuzzi. We spent another R500 or so, but it took forever to warm up. Water also leaked into the downstairs entertainment area when we used it, and it was worse when it rained. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The view is spectacular, and the accommodation is warm and cozy. You can also get a colonic cleanse and an ozone detox on the premises. The cleanse made a major difference to my body.

A lovely, quiet house with plenty of privacy. I had a really nice time, though I wish I’d gone without the kids. They were the ones who enjoyed themselves most.
