The Walden House

We were there in November, and the vegan breakfasts were a real highlight. Each morning brought a mix of warm and cold dishes, among the best vegan breakfasts we’ve had. Our spacious, spotless room had an extraordinary view of Table Mountain and Lion‘s Head. Everyone was helpful, and we got a lovely welcome. We’d highly recommend The Walden House.

Kristen’s care made a big difference throughout our five nights. She helped us plan our days and stay safe, and let us know the weather was changing so we could reach the top of Table Mountain before a windstorm hit the city. Amy also helped arrange a guide for Cape Town’s sights. We each had a quiet, roomy, well-equipped room. The big bathrooms and showers were great, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The property is beautiful, with a small neighborhood park across the way, plus clear Table Mountain views from the courtyard and balcony. It’s well placed for getting around: Table Mountain is about 10 minutes away by car, with Camps Bay a few minutes farther; the V&A takes 10-15 minutes. Kloof Street, with a Woolworths Food, bars, and cafes, is a short walk down the road. The airport drive took around 20-25 minutes depending on traffic.

Amy was so friendly and helpful, and the guest house itself has a lovely charm. Our room was spacious and clean, with good air con, a fridge, and a nice shower. Breakfast was lovely too. We stayed at the end of Jan 2024 and would gladly come back or recommend it to others.

Amy made our Cape Town visit feel easy and relaxing, and I’m so grateful for everything she did to make the trip special. The Walden house was accommodating, and our room was stunning, with luxurious linen and towels, plenty of cupboard space, and a spectacular view. It was clean as well. I’d definitely recommend this gem.
