Highland Quarters

The location makes Highland Quarters a handy base in Clarens, right in the village and close to galleries, quirky shops and restaurants. Golden Gate Highlands National Park is nearby too, with great hikes and scenery. The adjacent restaurant serves a delicious breakfast with freshly prepared choices. We found the rooms spacious, tastefully decorated and equipped with modern comforts. Large windows frame the surrounding mountains, and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. Staff were warm and helpful, with tips about local attractions, and the whole place had a peaceful feel. From arrival, the hospitality and calm atmosphere suited the charm of Clarens. It’s a comfortable and stylish option for a romantic weekend, a family trip or a solo break, and we left feeling refreshed and keen to return.

At the Highlander I paid less than half what I would have at the Protea hotel, and the amenities were just as good, maybe better. I’m glad I had to leave the Protea hotel early because they needed my room for a conference, though that felt rather unprofessional. The breakfast and dinner were perfect. I’d definitely recommend the Highlander.

Really good spot, and the staff were so helpful. The restaurant food was amazing, too.

Clarens is a lovely, safe place with beautiful scenery and great hikes around town. I stayed overnight on my way to Lesotho. Check-in was easy, the room was neat and clean for the price, and they packed me breakfast since I was leaving before 8 am. The restaurant was excellent. Thanks for a great stay. Dave i
